Work is steadily progressing at the construction site.
Whether you drive past Thalleveiåkeren every week or follow the progress on the construction camera, you’ve surely noticed that Bodø/Glimt’s new arena is taking shape at breakneck speed. In fact, construction of our new home is moving so fast that the move-in date might suddenly arrive before we know it.
We’re actually well ahead of schedule. On December 15, 2027, Bodø/Glimt will have the key in hand and be ready to embark on a whole new era in the club’s history. Of course, we still have a while to go before we get there, but along the way, there will be so many exciting and joyful developments in this massive construction project.
Today, you can see that the north grandstand has been erected and reached its final height. The other grandstands are following suit in terms of style, and there is no longer any doubt whatsoever about what is being built on the site. By the time Christmas rolls around in just over two months, Consto aims to have completed the stadium’s shell. That means that around the same time Sir Toby, Admiral von Schneider, Mr. Pomeroy, and Mr. Winterbottom are drinking port with their countess, we’ll move the construction camera from the Emperor to the inside of the stadium.
Starting at the end of December 2026, it will no longer be possible to see what is happening inside the stadium from the outside.
This continues to happen
Not only is the project ahead of schedule, but we are also very pleased to report that the construction project for the new arena is on budget. In other words, the outlook is promising for Glimt’s new arena in Bodø.
Prior to the official handover of the stadium on December 15, 2027, Glimt will conduct a series of tests to ensure that the stadium meets our needs. From the end of August through December 2027, there will be an extensive testing period.
We are currently working out exactly which tests will be conducted. We want the testing period to conclude with a full soccer game played in front of a packed stadium. We’ll get back to you on which teams will play in which games.
While construction workers are on site day in and day out, several processes are also underway within Bodø/Glimt’s administration. At the moment, we’re working on seating arrangements, season tickets, and tickets, among other things. We’re working to ensure that the flow of spectators is as seamless as possible and that the concession stand offerings—which, of course, will include hot dogs—are as good as they can be. We don’t have much concrete to report on these specific points just yet, but we promise to provide more information when the time is right.
By the way, did you know there are sample seats at Aspmyra? Specifically, in the LNS stands at Aspmyra, there are currently three brown seats that really stand out from the rest of the seats in the stands. These seats are identical (except for the color) to the ones that will be installed in the new stadium. If you’re in the area, you’re more than welcome to try out the new seats. You’ll find them just above the players’ tunnel at Aspmyra.
Stands, seats, spectator areas, concession stands, and office space—those are all great, of course. Important, too, in their own way. But it’s out on the field where the magic happens, and many people are surely wondering when things will start happening there.
Exactly when Jens Petter Hauge and Patrick Berg will first take on their opponents on the artificial turf at the new arena isn’t entirely clear yet, but what we can say is that work on the playing surface will begin in the weeks leading up to the summer of 2027. As is customary, work on the foundation will begin before the (artificial) turf is laid in the weeks that follow.
