Provides 120 million for a new arena: “A historic investment for the entire region”

SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge and the SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge Foundation are contributing a total of 120 million kroner to the new arena. The foundation is providing 100 million kroner for the construction of the new arena, while the bank is contributing 20 million kroner through the Samfunnsløftet initiative.

– This is a historic undertaking for the club, the city, and the entire region. We at SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge are proud to be able to help Bodø/Glimt build a state-of-the-art stadium. This is a project that will have ripple effects far beyond soccer, says Hanne Karoline Kræmer, CEO of SpareBank 1.

The SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge Savings Bank Foundation and Samfunnsløftet are two of the bank’s mechanisms for distributing dividends to the community, in line with the savings bank model.

Signal Building

The new arena to be built at Thalleåkeren will have a capacity of 10,000 spectators and will meet UEFA requirements for international matches. The project has a total budget of over 1.2 billion kroner, and the club has been working for several years to secure funding and the necessary permits. The stadium is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2027.

Bodø/Glimt has been a strong symbol of identity for Bodø and Nordland for several decades, and in recent years the club has made a strong mark both nationally and internationally.

– For us at Glimt, this support is much more than a financial contribution. It’s a clear signal that Northern Norway believes in us, in the region’s development, and in the sense of community we’re building together. A new stadium is absolutely crucial for our continued athletic development. Both to improve our performance over time and to be an attractive club—for players considering joining us, for young talents who dream of playing in yellow, and for everyone who wants to be part of our journey, says Frode Thomassen, general manager of Bodø/Glimt.

Social benefit

The grant from SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge is earmarked for public-benefit initiatives at the arena. Among other things, a dedicated “Stjernelosje” will be built—a specially adapted space with facilities designed for children and young people in vulnerable life situations. In addition, the funds will go toward public facilities, green outdoor areas, environmental initiatives, and equal locker room facilities for women and men.

– A new stadium will boost the entire region, and this project is about so much more than just soccer. It’s gathering places like this that foster pride, unity, and growth in the north. That’s why the support from SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge is so crucial. It makes it possible to realize a project that not only sets the club up for the future but also creates lasting ripple effects for the entire region, far beyond what is needed to develop Bodø/Glimt as a soccer club. We are also pleased that we have reached an agreement with the bank regarding loan financing for the project, says Inge Henning Andersen, chairman of the board at Bodø/Glimt.
